The advent of communal source code repositories has had an interesting effect on the source-code gene pool. Recent events like Heartbleed and more historical events like Debian's 2008 OpenSSH failure make for some entertaining sleuthing. Last week I had the opportunity to see (and experience) inheriting a software bug.
